Photography the Healer

Fine Art Photographer Megan Rizzo shares her story.

Some days, a little bit of a 'lightbulb moment' happens and you realise through all the pain, how far you have come.

After an epic day of shooting for my own project, as I was drifting off to sleep and thinking... that what they all say is true.

You cannot see the rainbow, until you have been through the rain.

The bottom image was taken on film in 1991 as part of my final HSC project, of which I scored in the top 10% of the state, (only for this project & subject...no other academic ability..lol)

Although i had wanted to become a Fine Art Photographer, I didn't pursue what held my heart, it was thought my artistic talents would never really amount to much and now 20 years later, I have recreated this image with a woman who is truly stunning.

It's like an acknowledgement. A statement. I can make something of the beauty I see around me. I am worthy. I do have a talent. It may not be recognised by those same people, but it is within me that it has been, and that's the main thing I guess. As difficult as it is to write those words...

Sometimes we just need to stop, look back and the path we have trodden, and acknowledge it. Thankyou for reading  Megan xx

now operates her highly successful portrait studio on the  Beautiful Gold Coast. If only she had known as a young woman what the photographic world could give back to her in her later life. Less tears would have been shed.
